Detra Energy brought clean cooking technologies to the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, engaging staff and visitors on practical renewable energy solutions.
The activation formed part of Detra Energy's commitment to reaching different sections of society with information and technologies that support cleaner, more efficient and sustainable energy use.
Clean Cooking for Everyday Life
Cooking is an everyday activity for millions of Ugandans, yet the technology used to prepare meals can have significant implications for fuel consumption, household expenditure, indoor air quality and the environment.
At the Ministry, the Detra Energy team demonstrated selected clean cooking technologies and engaged participants on the benefits of moving towards improved cooking solutions.
The showcase was not part of the UECCC subsidy programme. Instead, it demonstrated Detra Energy's broader ability to provide affordable and practical clean
energy alternatives beyond individual programme interventions.
A Solutions-Oriented Approach
Detra Energy approaches renewable energy from a solutions perspective.
Our objective is to understand the energy challenge facing a household, business or institution and then identify technology that can respond to that need.
This includes clean cooking solutions alongside wider renewable energy, water and environmental solutions.
The Ministry engagement therefore provided an opportunity to demonstrate how clean energy can be incorporated into everyday institutional and community life.
Reaching More Communities Through Partnerships
Detra Energy's community outreach is made possible through collaboration with a broad network of partners and sector stakeholders.
These include SNV, GIZ Uganda, ICLEI, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development, NREP, UNACC, UECCC and other clean energy stakeholders.
