Empowering Women to Lead the Green Transition
The transition to a sustainable future depends on collaboration, innovation, and inclusive participation. At Detra Energy, we firmly believe that women are at the forefront of driving climate action, advancing clean energy adoption, and building resilient communities.
We were proud to participate in the 5th Women in Climate Change Action Conference Side Event, held at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Nakawa, under the theme: "Cross-Border Market Access and Export Readiness for Women in the Circular and Green Sector." The event brought together entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers, development partners, innovators, and private sector players committed to strengthening women's role in Uganda's growing green economy.
A Platform for Innovation and Opportunity
The conference served as an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, focusing on how women-led businesses can access regional and international markets while contributing to climate resilience. Through a vibrant programme featuring an Expo, Research Symposium, and Awards Ceremony, participants explored innovative solutions that are transforming the circular economy and promoting sustainable development.
For Detra Energy, the event presented an opportunity not only to showcase our renewable energy solutions but also to engage with women entrepreneurs, institutions, and development partners working towards a shared vision of a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Showcasing Practical Clean Energy Solutions
Throughout the exhibition, our team demonstrated a range of renewable energy technologies designed to improve everyday living while reducing environmental impact.
Visitors to the Detra Energy exhibition stand learned about solutions including:
Clean cooking technologies
Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs)
Energy-efficient institutional cooking solutions
Sustainable cooking technologies for households and businesses
Renewable energy innovations that reduce emissions and operating costs
Our experts were available throughout the event to answer questions, provide product demonstrations, and advise visitors on selecting solutions tailored to their homes, businesses, and institutions.
These interactions highlighted a growing interest in practical, affordable technologies that improve energy efficiency while supporting environmental conservation.

Why Women's Leadership Matters in Climate Action
Women are among the primary users and managers of household energy across many communities. Their leadership in adopting and promoting clean energy technologies has far-reaching benefits.
Greater access to clean cooking solutions contributes to:
Improved household health by reducing exposure to harmful indoor air pollution.
Time savings through faster and more efficient cooking.
Lower household energy costs.
Reduced dependence on unsustainable biomass fuels.
Increased opportunities for women to participate in education, entrepreneurship, and income-generating activities.
Environmental conservation through reduced carbon emissions and deforestation.
Empowering women with access to clean energy is therefore not only a climate solution it is an investment in healthier families, stronger communities, and more resilient economies.
Partnerships That Enable Greater Impact
Detra Energy's participation reflects our belief that meaningful change is achieved through collaboration. We are grateful to work alongside government institutions, development partners, and industry stakeholders who continue to advance renewable energy adoption and sustainable development across Uganda.
Our collaborations with organizations such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company (UECCC), SNV, GIZ, ICLEI, National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP), and the Uganda National Alliance on Clean Cooking (UNACC) strengthen our ability to expand awareness, improve access to clean energy technologies, and support Uganda's transition to a greener economy. These partnerships continue to create opportunities for communities, entrepreneurs, institutions, and businesses to embrace sustainable energy solutions.

Looking Ahead
As Uganda continues its journey towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy, events such as the Women in Climate Change Action Conference play a critical role in fostering collaboration, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Detra Energy remains committed to developing and delivering renewable energy solutions that improve lives, empower communities, and contribute to national and global climate goals.
